First off I want to thank ALL OF YOU for your helpful comments and advice on the fate of my MMM jacket. I've decided to keep it maxi, that's what most of you had suggested! I'm happy with my decision too! So, here I am rockin' my new coat! Just threw it on over what I was already wearing and threw on the Ray Ban wayfarers because I had no make up on except for some lipstick I quickly applied. So? Do you guys like??
Gisela wears Maison Martin Margiela maxi jacket, F21 DIY white jeans, AA sleeveless v-neck, DIY chains, combat boots at Target and Rayban Wayfarers.
PS: The MMM sample sale sucked! I mean really? was I really going to pay $200 for an MM6 (MMM bridge line) tee shirt when I just purchased a runway coat for the same price? NOT!!!!
JUST MY LUCK! I've been dying for a Maison Martin Margiela piece and on Saturday at Century 21 I found an MMM SP09 black, shoulder padded maxi coat!I dropped everything and put it on...The jacket was so SICK! I had to have it, especially at the unbelievable price of $200. Anyway, ran to the register and got it..Showed it to Maury and my friend Yen and they gagged. Yen suggested tailoring the jacket into a blazer.. I like the idea but I need help in making the decision..Should I keep it a maxi coat or should I make it into a more wearable blazer? Let me know what you think! The image above shows the white version of the black MMM jacket. Its very long and I can wear it easily with heels. No idea when I'm going to wear it but I will most certainly do a mini shoot tonight to show you guys how it looks..can't wait!! Oh, and I was invited to the MMM sample sale tomorrow, which I put a bit of money aside for, but I doubt I will find this piece at that price..Maury and I will let you know tomorrow how it went :-)
Alexander McQueen has always been at Inspiration to Gisela and I with his avant-garde shows, cutting edge tailoring, and dramatic statement pieces. I haven't been fortunate enough to own any of his garments or accessories from any of his collection, but Gisela does. Gisela has some amazing red boots I been dying to snatch from her before I even met her. I have never seen her wear them so I have always wondered when the heck is she going to put those McQueens to use! I think once we get settled with our apartments which seems to be taking forever, we will put our closets to good use. Everything is like in storage and is so frustrating to just be living in a couple wears for months.
I actually want to go to the store in the next couple of weeks and invest in a pair of his absolutely fabulous leggings. They are to DIE FOR!!!!! The print is just so surreal and its def. what I envision my crazy life collaged into a pair of pants. Like that is exactly how cluttered my mind feels some times. While dining at Son Cubano in the meat packing district we passed by the boutique but it was close. We took some snapshops but they were so blurry and the lighting was not good since it was like 12a.m.
Which one do you prefer? I love them all!!! We are a big fan of Punk Rock!
Well, I am pretty sure you guys are in the mood to get some Alexander McQueen too like us. Since we can't all afford the Retail prices, Gilt Groupe has come up with one of the best shopping websites! Gisela and I are addicts and as soon at 12 P.M. hits we are glued to our computers to try to snatch one of the sought after items from some of our most favorite designers. This Wednesday, McQueen will be at Gilt for the second time. The first time they had some amazing accessories for pennies but I waited till the last minute to make up my mind and decide if I really wanted to purchase these pair of boots I was drooling over and get Gisela's approval. This time, I am not going to think and take immediate action if I see something I love. Sometimes in fashion, you can't think twice. So girls, prepare yourselves, tell your boss that as soon at 12 P.M. hits you can't speak to anyone, you can't be bothered with the report she been asking you about, and you are just going to refrain from civilization for one hour so you can snatch something from GILT. I hope my browser doesn't crash like the Louboutin sale the other day...LOL. If you are not part of Gilt.com please click on the link below and become a member so you can take advantage of this sale since is only by invitation only. Its going to be a good one, I hope. BTW, the images on this posting are of the Spring/Summer '09 collection. We are not sure what are going to be the items for sale at GILT.com. These were just images of some of our favorite items for Spring/Summer '09.
WICKED SHOES....do you think our YSL Tributes are high....look at these crazy puppies...OUTRAGEOUS
Once Upon in a land far far away lived a Belgian/French designer by the name of Olivier Theyskens. He was this young and beautiful multi-talented designer whom had an imagination like no other. We loved his design approach, which was a combination of edgy, dark, feminine, impeccable attention to detail, painterly color sense, an aura of elegance and sophistication, and goth like styles, but cut like a technical master. He had started his own line after dropping out of school and then went on to design for houses like Rochas and Nina Ricci. I don't mean to talk about him in past tense like Theyskens is dead, but when I heard the news that one of my favorite young designers was exiting a house that he started making his mark on, it just brought tears to my eyes. It felt like one of my family members had passed away and I had to create an Eulogy.
Some of our favorites looks
Theyskens last collection for Nina Ricci was done with such an artistic and modern approach. He DID pushed the envelope and went further than was expected of him, and because of this, my man had to be dropped? Come on now! Obviously, we don't know all the details on what was going on with The Puig Fashion Group, which owns Ricci. Apparently there were some creative differences and some bumping of heads between the business and creative ends. That is one of the biggest problems that us designers run into...art vs. commerce. At the end of the day, we all need money and fashion is a business, but we don't just want to design what we see, we want to push the envelope, get creative and do something new. A lot of times this doesn't work because then you are not generating a cash flow and you end up losing it all and going out of business. Although Ricci's designs weren't seen mass produced and worn like, lets say...an Alexander Wang piece, everyone always anticipated what he would to do next! He had one of those shows that editors, buyers, fashion fanatics would always have in their top 5 as far as being fthe most orward and creative.
Its been rumored that he might take over the House of Schiaparelli, which has always been one of my favorite houses since the early high school days when I started getting into the history of fashion. I used to love hearing about the crazy battles of Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel...they went at it! It has also been said that he might bring back his line or take over at Halston. I think America would love to have Theyskens but artistically he doesn't fit. He is too too STUPENDOUS for the overly saturated mass market we have in America. It would only be right for Theyskens to stay where his creativity is welcomed, where he really finds the support and where he is given his freedom to explore and get wild!
Some of our favorite Gowns...We love to dream, we love to fantasize!!!!
According to WWD, it's official that Peter Copping has taken the helm at Nina Ricci. Although most of us don't know much about Peter Copping, we do know that he has been one of the masterminds behind the Louis Vuitton collections for the past 12 years. I personally loved the last Vuitton collection and have a newfound respect for Marc Jacobs because it was well thought out and everything was just done perfectly without being too out there. Copping says that he doesn't just want to focus on the clothes but on actually building up the accessories which is the bread and butter of a brand anyways. He managed to get other designers from Vuitton to help him establish the accessories line at Nina Ricci. I will stay seated and see what Copping does with this house, right now I don't have high expectations as I deel it will be extremely difficult to reach the level of acclaim Theyskens received.
Being a fashion stylist, I'm constantly bombarded with sample sale notices on a weekly basis, its disgusting, but what's more disgusting is that I go to them and always find amazing pieces! I'm this close to handing over my credit cards to my hubby because, like Neyo sings, " I JUST CAN'T STOP, I JUST CAN'T STOP!" Lol! I always find a way to justify my purchases though, that's the beauty of me. For example, the IT Sample sale is going on all week long and this past weekend they had further reductions on Costume National, C'N'C Costume National, Gianfranco Ferre, GFERRE and Malo, about 75% - 90% off! I'd be an idiot not to check it out, right? Maury was spending a relaxing weekend in the Poconos so she was not with me but Yen joined me instead, a few hours before her flight to Toronto departed..talk about shopaholics. Yen found a wicked patent leather jacket, which I will blog about later but for now, feast your eyes on my C'N'C' Costume National FW08 wool, sequin trim, asymetrical dress which retailed for $1200 and I got for a steal! I'm thinking of wearing it to my sister's bday celebration on May 2nd, perhaps with my wicked YSL's or my sexy Givenchy gladiators, which you guys haven't seen yet...hmmm, can't decide..Stay tuned!
